- 50 Tablets -

The product contains extract of Kelp (Seaweed Fucus Vesiculosus), which is a rich and natural source of Iodine.
Iodine is an essential mineral for humans and other animals and is essential for the proper functioning of the Thyroid gland, which in turn synthesizes the Tirodeas hormones Thyroxine (T3) and Triiodothyronine (T4).

What is the function of iodine in our body?
Iodine has a fundamental role to the biosynthesis of Thyroid hormones. These hormones have several functions in our body and determine various metabolic mechanisms. Operating in physical and neurological growth, basal metabolism and thus in the maintenance of body temperature, controlling all the metabolic steps of cellular oxidation by interfering with the metabolism of lipids, carbohydrates, protein, water and some minerals, with reflection on the reproducibility. They are very important for the short operation of various organs such as the heart, liver, kidney, ovaries.

Iodine also plays an important role in brain activity and helps to maintain skin health. It also contributes to the proper functioning of the nervous system.

Poor Intake
Poor intake of Iodine, is manifested by a change in the well known Thyroid hormone: the Goiter. Goiter is the apparent increase in the size of the gland, which reflects its attempt to capture a larger amount of Iodine for the production of T3 and T4.

But this is not the only clinical manifestation of the poor intake. The lack can become very serious. The Hypothyroidism, Thyroid gland malfunction, can also be manifested by lack of energy, dry skin, scaly or yellowish, hair loss, numbness and tingling in the extremities, weight gain, memory loss, depression, anemia, changes in personality, increased cholesterol and homocysteine levels, and may also cause the carpal tunnel syndrome.

During pregnancy and infancy can result in cretinism in children or irreversible severe mental retardation and severe motor impairments, deaf-mutism, birth defects, also increases the risk of stillbirths, abortions, maternal mortality and birth of children with low weight.

In areas of the world where Iodine deficiency is very high, there is a higher incidence of Thyroid cancer.
Iodine also focuses on breast tissue, and Iodine deficiency in the breasts manifests as fibrocystic breast disease (sore breasts with nodules and cysts often symptomatic before menstruation.

20% of the Iodine is stored in the human body skin, particularly in the sweat glands. Iodine deficiency manifests itself in these glands as dry skin and decreased ability to perspire.

Iodine can also be concentrated in stomach tissue, and the lack manifests as achlorhydria (lack of digestive acid production). Iodine is used by the stomach cells, also known as parietal cells to concentrate chloride, an element that is necessary for the production of hydrochloric acid (digestive acid). Prolonged lack of hydrochloric acid (achlorhydria) causes an increased incidence of stomach cancer.

Iodine is also focused on the eye and tear glands, Iodine deficiency can cause harm dry eye. Iodine can also be concentrated in the parotid and submandibular glands of the mouth. The Iodine deficiency can result in dry mouth.

Studies have shown a relationship between Iodine deficiency and the presence of cysts in the ovaries. The higher the Iodine deficiency, the greater quantity of ovarian cysts the women produces.
In its extreme form, this condition is known as polycystic ovary disease.

Diabetes:Exists the potential to restore the Iodine normalizing the hormonal sensitivity and significantly improving the sensitivity to Insulin and other hormones.

Cardiovascular function: Thyroid hormone deficiency on cardiovascular function can be characterized by decreased myocardial contractility and increased peripheral vascular resistance, as well as by changes in lipid metabolism. Improved Thyroid function can normalize the cholesterol, blood pressure and certain types of arrhythmia.

In Dentition: The teeth need Iodine and not Fluorine. Iodine, in addition to increasing IQ, has the function to treat the teeth without the problems of the fluoride toxicity.

As a Detox: Iodine produces Chelates of heavy and toxic metals for humans such as mercury, lead, cadmium and aluminum and halogens such as fluorine and bromide, allowing its elimination by the body. Chelates have as main applications poisoning treatment and correction of mineral nutritional deficiencies.

Osteoporosis: The problems of Osteopenia (small loss of calcium) observed in some patients are related to Iodine deficiency. The lack of Iodine causes Hypothyroidism and short-term bone complications. If the Iodine was administered together with the Thyroid hormone, this abnormality can be avoided. Thus, people with an adequate daily intake of Iodine probably would never develop Osteoporosis.

The Thyroid gland uses Iodine to synthesize Thyroid hormone. Thyroid hormone makes the bones grow, mature and modifying as necessary.

Pregnancy: Women in preconception, pregnant or breast-feeding should take a daily supplement of Iodine - 150 to 200µg / day from preconcepcional period, throughout pregnancy and for the duration of exclusive breastfeeding.

Why is it needs increase for pregnant and lactating?
Adequate intake of Iodine is even more crucial for women planning pregnancy or are already pregnant or breast-feed because the growth and development of the brain is maximum during the fetal period and the first years of life. That is, in the preconception period of supplementation is important so that there are reserves of this micronutrient early in the pregnancy.

During pregnancy the Iodine intake should meet the needs of women, for the production of its own Thyroid hormones that will be essential for normal functioning of the woman's metabolism and growth and brain development of the fetus and unborn baby.

When the Iodine intake is insufficient can result in inadequate cognitive and / or behavioral development and in the case of a severe deficiency of Iodine intake, cretinism, in children. While breastfeeding exclusively, breast milk is the only source of Iodine that the baby will have access to, so once again the woman should get enough for your needs and for the baby.
